how do i go about takin my personalised plates of my current car as i'm selling it? what would i have to do? and what exactly happens?

gotta pay £105 
old plate gets put back on, v5 gets sent back with old plate back on it, thats takes few weeks

You'd have to contact DVLA and get them to do it, tell them you want to keep the plate on retention until you have another car to transfer to. Note that transfer costs are around £80.

Fee to retain is £25, the other £80 is assignment fee which is paid in advance of it going on another vehicle. 
 
If you want to retain get a V778/1. 
 
If you have another vehicle to put the reg on to use a V317 instead, cost will only be £80 as you don't need to retain in the mean time. 
 
Both forms are available from VRO offices or most main post offices.

Well can i recomend halfords 1mm number plate adhesive. Works a treat and is only £1.69 or £1.96 cant remember. 
 
Double sided tape is wank
