the higher the MCD the brighter the LED shines, but does this mean less life of the led??
i usually get 3mm leds in 4000MCD and 5mm in 8000MCD both 3-3.5volts and i soldier on resistors for them to work with 12volts in car

Higher MCD = brighter.
Only you can decide if brighter is better.
I know wetter is better, but that's for Supersoakers.

i have 10,000mcd blue and 12,000 mcd whites. Any less and you wont see them.
