Does anyone know if say i use a company like elephant, and they quote me 1800 (0 NCB driving for 2 years and good area) for fully comp, would i be right in saying if i was covered by the same company under my dads name that this quote would be far less than 1800 as quoted on my own? I cant see how a company can justify insuring a person on his/her own at a lower cost than if the person was to be covered under a parents name... can anyone help me please???? would there be a difference in quoting online and over the phone? im just asking because if they give me a rediculously high qoute under my dads name, would it be worth telling them why it would be if they were able to quote me less under my own name...
(sorry for the long post!)
Cheers,
Dom

Youre classed as second driver on your dads, as opposed to being first driver on your own meaning youre not supposed to be using the car as much and have lesser chance of having an accident as youre not using the motor as much.
There is a difference online as to over the phone if youre doing it on your own insurance. Some companies give you 10% off for buying online, Tesco, Liv Vic etc

Youre paying less under his name because youre not supposed to be driving the car as much. You're on as second driver.

Correct. It should be definetly lower if you go on your dads insurance. Downside is you dont build up your no claims bonus this way..

Yes, some companies only want certain clients, so charge the ones they don't want an arm and a leg to stop them taking up a policy.
