Why do car's blow up on track days and 1/4 miles etc?

If I can go down the motorway constantly at high revs - surely driving it round the track won't suddenly go bang?

unless of corsa they're tuned up and thus much more stressful

if your just crusing down a motorway at a set amount of revs you are putting strain on the engine but not on and off strain... at least motorway is constant. But when you are hammering your car to redline in every gear, slamming brakes on hard for corners and then redlining it all the way to the next corner, the engine is taking much more of a beating!

the amount of stress you put on the cars at tracks is very high , high cornering speeds and breaking etc.. remember these cars were not built for tracks.

its in the Rover Coupe (tomcat)

handling is shite in those as they have the t-bar roof so they are as flexy as anything. He also had crap tyres and he didnt have torsen diff which the normal rover tubos have
