Ace vid! I loved Touring cars back in those sort of days... so much closer and action packed - all the cars on edge... drivers fighting for places whatever the risk.
Now BTCC is all too namby pamby...

Brilliant video thanks for putting that link upi. I remember it really well, and its funny to see the roads of Birmingham in 'race' mode yet again. There are still barriers up in places from when it was on.
Just goes to show why it failed though!! Did you see how much the cars were bouncing up and down due to th euneven road surface.
The 2 years the racing was on in Birmingham were Brilliant shame they never spent the money and got all the problems sorted for it to continue.
I lused to live and still do (same area) around 5 miles from the city centre and you could here the cars there testing on the run up to those weekends.

The racing was around the city centre, The pits and start/finish line was on the Bristol Road where Bristol Street motors is. It then went slightly out of town, up the hill around the roundabout you see in the first 3 mins of that videa, down again and around the rear of the city centre.
A lot of the roads have changed now and it most likely wouldnt even be possible these days especially since the new Bull ring delevopment.
It was great fun though and I have loads of pics some where of the days I went, in both years.

When the back comes out Murray doesn't even mention it, when that happens in todays racing it is front page news.
The in car stuff is difficult to take your eyes off.
I like '550bhp, not your average Sierra'. Maybe that comment was true then but its probably not any more if you check PF member list
