as above. at the moment i only plan on getting one with an amp then maybe later in the year add another if the old finances permit.

The bigger the woofer the deeper the bass, it is also true that the bigger the woofer the slower it is to respond to transients. In other words..It ain’t as quick off the mark! Smaller is punchier and faster. True hi fi lovers will use 8 and 10 in subs singles or multiple sets to achieve best results while rockers and clubbers will probably demand the heavier impact of 12 or 15 in models.

Above is true By Aztec_sri which is pasted from CarAudioDirect. the sub is also effected by Box Volume normaly In Cu.ft talk to Adisri, He know his stuff and always glad to help. ALSO the price and make of sub can make a differece and don just look At Max power Outputs

lol. yeah defo dont listen to max power, they say a viper kit can add 10bhp to a 1.2 corsa 
a ported box is louder, but more likely to cook your sub as an encloused sub will be air sprung. Not copy and pasted from any where

i think by this he means look at rms not max power ratings not dont look in Max Power magazine (which i dont anyway)

You should never go on the max power output of the sub when getting an amp to match it, or even thinking about its real power.
Also this ported box relating to cooking subs is pure shite. My subs are overpowered by 100wRMS each, in a ported box, and are usually at full whack all the time and they still havent cooked. One nearly did but thats because of pure distortion that came from an mp3

would a 10inch also give a weight advantage over a 12inch aswell because of the larger box and larger sub etc or would it be minimal as im not sure what to choose out of this 10 inch or this 12 inch. still unsure on what differnce im going to get from having a 12". would a 10" be more responsive as its got less air to move but therefore slightly less bassy although id rather have a nice sound than a constant loud thudding that drowns out the rest of my music.

a lot of it is down to the size of box, and if ported then a lot of difference will be made depending on the size of the port etc..
I prefer smaller subs in smaller boxs, but i like tight bass not drony low bass.
I have 12's tho, and they can be made tight with the right amp and small sealed box.
