some of em did, some didnt, you would have to strip the doorcards off to find out

It was a factory option.
You don't need to strip the doorcard off, just unplug the loom that goes between the car and the door. If it has 2 pins in that is just audio. If you have more then you're in luck.
The connector needs twisting for unplugging.
