Can these things be sprayed the same colour as the car?

I washed mine yesterday as it was covered in oil and crap, but it's all scratched and stuff (no surprises there seeing as it's nearly 8 years old), so I thought I might get it sprayed the same colour as my car (Astra in my avatar).

Aye. Was a bastard to mask off the edges so that it stayed silver tho. Spray it like you would any other plastic surface. Key it with some 400 grit (might need to be quite harsh with it to get all the grease out etc, so the paint doesnt react). PLastic prime it with a couple of layers, then top coat it. Put a few layers of laquer on it though because its surprising how mucky it gets under there, and the laquer will protect it a little .

Just use normal body colour paint, I used the paint in the cans from Vauxhall for mine. Oh and if you do it, dont be worried if you can smell paint the fisrt few times you stop if the engine got warm . for about a week after i'd done it, i was popping the bonnet making sure there werent a big mess wher emy cover once was .

Don't you need to use some kind of heat resistant lacquer though?
