Was invented by Winston Davies, a mechanic from Suffolk, needed a lubricant that would free off rusty farm machinery components. Went through around 50 variations, the most effective one was number 40 tho. Thats why it's called WD40.

where did you hear that??
You have to leave it for ages on really rusty stuff, taken a week of soaking to free of stuff, depends how much of a rush you are in and how easy it is to replace what ever you'll destroy.

wd40 is quite good , i just it on my motorbike plastics , it makes them shiny and is better than any polish i have come across
