Ive recieved half life 2 today and need directX 9 to play it, ive downloaded direct x but when i install it i get this message come up halfway through

"The software you are installing has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows XP. The software has not installed"

Can i diable this somehow? Its a bit odd that this comes up seeing as directX is a windows program.

When you get that message, it "should" give you the option of continuing anyway......I'm assuming from the above that it doesn't?

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> System -> "Hardware" tab -> Driver Signing

Change the dotted-option to "Warn - Prompt me each time to choose an action."

I'd advise against setting it to ignore the warning (top option), setting it to "Warn" means you get the prompt I mentioned in the first post......so you just click on "Continue anyway" when you get the warning.
