I took out my yearly portion of pain policy two months ago...I declared all existing mods and got some estimates for future mods.

at this point I would like to point out to the moderators here that there is such a thing as the freedom of information act, therefore there isnt anythin inflammatory abou this post ok

I had an interesting convo today with egg insurance...

went summat like

me: I want too change the wheels on my car. Lets get this straight. It ALREADY has alloys on it, the reason I want to change is because of the limit of tyre suppliers (ie one for the fronts)

her: So will the tyres be more expensive then..

me: No they will be cheaper

her: right

her: So the alloys will they be more expensive then?

me: no they will be cheaper than replacing with the OEM
alloys

her: one minute please

/greensleeves

her: ok ive spoken to the underwrighters and that will be an additional £150ish on your policy

me: GTF, I wanna speak to a supervisor

her: ok

/greensleeves

her:Ive spoken to my supervisor its £150....

(im now typing after spending 3/4 talking to the manager)

Ive now declared all mods even down to the black badges, and im both seething and confused.

The Steinmetz grille - no problem
Badges - no problem
Painting OEM alloys - no problem
Millek to 160bhp - £60/annum
Viper - and fekking get this £95/annum

me: Look lady the viper is hardly a powerupgrade, look at what you have quoted me for the Milltek.....

her: its a cosmetic upgrade sir.....

me:WTF, you cant see it!!!

her: It doesnt work like that sir

......

So I had to shell another £95.....nice*

*im cancelling the policy

any advice on a mod friendly/payout friendly company??

cheers in advance

Every insurance company I've been with have been happy with mods and reasonable when adding a surcharge, if at all.

Budget, CIS, Performance Direct.

its a vx220....

and as such im somewhat concerned about the quality of payout as opposed to cheapness of premium. im not being a primadonna but it just seems astonishing that I get an insurance hike for de-valuig my car. let alone a hike for a non performance gain mod

nice to see GTF gets sensored but not WTF then

how on earth can they justify an added premium on the grounds of 'cosmetics' for a viper, but not a steinmetz or blackening which are purely cosmetic???

tw*ts I actually joked that i should declare the furry dice......she laughed and 'said 'dont worry about those sir'

performance direct?? any views??

Agreed, you should go to an insurance company that actually works and not just one that can give you a cheap premium.

I've not had to make a claim with any of my insurers, but I've found Perf. Direct to be excellent with paperwork, quotes, renewals, etc.

I had a verbal conversation with someone there about fitting a C20XE into the Corsa. The next day I had written confirmation of their policy!

CIS were a bit of a nightmare to deal with as they used local reps that came round to fill in a form for you... I got tired of waiting so went elsewhere.

I went round loads for the audi, admiral were superb and very helpful for us, they did have their quote beaten but we stuck with them as we were happy with the service they gave us.

Thanks for that peeps

ive gotta say it.....I feel sorry for the younger drivers these days (im 36) you really get it over the barrel on insurance matters

in my youth I had a tricked up XR2 (first car), and the insurance comps didnt even ask about mods or particularly load the premiums. I see now the insurance companies have caught onto the modding scene and are cashing in

ps

no pr0n? (even in moderation) cant say G.T.F. without it being sensored but can say WTF? what is going on here??????

Law might mean it can't stay, but it also doesn't mean it must do. CS policy first, closely followed by the expertise of the staff, then any legal ramblings.

And yes, they make this up off the top of their heads.

yes. and im sorry to say......

whilst this BBS can be a great laugh.... the mods are totally over doing it here.

The 'how many people have you shagged' thread was totally ok.

In fact, it was a very good indictment for the people who post on this BBS... but it gets trashed.

stupid.

I was expecting 'ive shagged every tart moving' but was pleasantly surprised by the posts....certainly more sensible than my generaton
