Was outside the back of thee house prepping my Trek for a blast through Thetford forest tomorrow morning, when I suddenly heard a deep rumbling noise in the distance. We live half way up a farm lane, and down the end is a small trading/industrial estate. A few minutes later, I could hear the noise getting closer and more interesting, so on the floor went the WD40, and round I went to the front of the house. All was dark outside, but I could see that the car coming towards me from the ind. estate was VERY low. Mmm, this looks tasty. And indeed it was. A 1967 GT40! Oh my, how good it sounded, and when he got to the junction at the bottom of the road, I think it's fair to say he er, cleared the carbs.
I found out a few weeks ago that there is a very good car restorer down at the ind. estate, and he is trusted with all sorts of very expensive cars. This would explain how over the last 5 years I've seen numerous old Rollers, a Type 35 Bugatti, an Aston Martin DBR1, a lightweight E-type.....
I might have to take a reccy down there one day, but I'll have to try hard to not be awe-struck.
