Ok after initial talk of maybe getting a punto GT for a runabout...there has been some new developments...I have to decide between the 2 cars above...there a plus and minus sides to both cars...such as the punto is newer with less miles...and the 306 wont cost me a penny to run as my dad can supply me with free diesel to run it...so can anyone tell me comparative stats etc...and what you would choose?

I am edging towards the 306...its a lot more car for the money...plus will receive a free tank of diesel a week...with being in uni this seems the logical choice...

You must be a spanner short of a tool set if you went for a punto sporting over a 306. The HDi is a really good engine and the whole car is much more solid. Handling is excelent on 306's aswell. As for resale vaulue, the punto will be worthless within a few years (if its not already  ) whereas the 306 will still give you something back when u come to sell it.

Id go for the 306 too, you may find its bit pokier than the punto, and definatly alot roomier.

Exactly...the fiat would only cost me buttons to run anyway...but free fuel is a bonus...my dad has been saying to me since the age of 17 to buy a diesel....
