what parts do i need to replace on a 2.0 16v during a major service?
this is for before it is being put in my car cos i don't want it breaking down as soon as its in!
i've heard that the water pump is one?
also what are the rough prices of the parts?

thanks

major service parts are:

oil..
oil filter..
spark plugs..
air filter....(no need to change if you have a iduction kit....just give induction kit a clean)

thn you top up all levels.....i.e.....brake fluid....coolant and water....screenwash.......power steering fluid if you have p/s...thn you strip down all your brakes and check your pads and discs.....check your drums aswell.....check for leakin wheel cylinders by just peeling back the little rubber dust-gaurds on each end of wheels cylinder....if fluid is in ther....u need wheels cylinders.....thn give all your caliper and caliper carrier's a clean with a wire brush and a file......thn get sum aerosol(sp?).. brake cleaner and clean your drums......

thn check ya tyres...tread depth....tyre pressure....

and there is other stuff but u need to be rite under car....and not really diy yaself jobs unless your a qualified mechanic...or no your stuff

thats a general major service....not just one for a c20xe

Cam-belt and clutch.

Check them otherwise they're an arse to one with the confines of a Corsa bay

yeah major ones for c20xe r the cambelt, and water pump, not dear, and is worth doing them while the engine is out!! on other one is the gasket, not a big job, and is worth doing!!

theres quite a few gaskets on there presume you mean head gasket.

tis a good idea to do cambelt + tensioners, waterpump and clutch before it goes in

I wouldn't really say it's an engine thing but someone mentioned topping up brake fluid. This should be changed at a major service not just topped up.
