Right here goes, a freind of mine sold his crx the other day with what he thought was 63 000 miles on the clock. All was fine done a receipt for the car sold as seen etc. He got a call last night from the bloke saying that the car had done over 100k miles! My mate had no idea about this, he says he found this out after looking through the paperwork. Where does he stand legally on this? He says he wants compensation or the car taken back and money given back. Does the fact it was sold as seen not stand for anything as the bloke checked the paperwork when he bought it ?

Cheers

Sold as seen, maybe should have checked the paper work but tell your mate to watch out as he could be suspected of clocking.

It depends. If your friend didn't say anything about the mileage then it would be classed as sold as seen, but if he specifically told the guy it had 63k on then its selling on false pretenses. I think.

if your friend had no reason to believe it was anything other than 63k then he has no worries

Thanks guys. Right turns out that the clocks were changed on the car! this is documented in the paperwork but my friend had no idea they had been done as he obviously did not look closely. The car was advertised at 63 000miles as this is what he thought to be the case!

yes, tell ur friend to stand his ground, sold as seen, and u have a receipt, secondhand stuff doesn't come with any guarentees, and alot of cars wouldn't of even had the paperwork.

some people would offer some compensation tho, depends how nice he feels.
