ok last night my car stopped going after going over a bumpy bit of road, it just stoppe dmoving, u can start it and go into gears ect anbd accelerate but it doesnt go anywhere and u could hear somit like drive shaft spinning, so as far as i can tell the drive shaft popped out, now the garage are saying they think its the gearbox! hmm is this possible? gearbox had no reason to go, wasnt changing gear when it happend, and you can still get into all gears but it doesnt move altho u can hear shat or sumit turning, the gearbox has always been fine, no probs, ?? they trying to rip me?

well get under and check yourself to see if the shaft is out. could be the diff. and also put it in help forum

they recoverd it and took it strait to their garage last night and i havent sene it so i cant check myself, couldnt get under and check last night either

I had something similar happen to me after coming over the speed bump outside my college, you could rev the engine but not go newhere and also had same spinning noise, turned out that my drive shaft had popped out and its not a big job to fix realli £30 and most of that was for new gearbox fluid.
So get down to the garage have a look and make sure they aren't trying to rip you off for a new gearbox!

mate whos uncles garage it is, just told me when he looked the shaft was in and it was makin that noise? any other ideas

bah fucking tit, mate was having a laugh, only joking about the gearbox, aint even sorted it yet, says its still the driveshaft lol,
my exhaust he said came off and was scraping the ground when it was on the back of the pick up!!! tailpipe might be shaggerd
but hes still not sure if the shaft has damaged anythin else

looks to be the gearbox now, the shafts are in place but just spinning

the shafts should spin otherwise u wont get nowhere

he thinks that its the passenger side and the teath or whatever on the shaft have just wore down, hes popping it out the now to have a look, if it is, he said they can get a 2nd hand shaft and stick it on for bout 60£ that wa sincluding coming and recovering the car

ok took the shaft out had a look it was fine, but there was a big cog or sumit jammed in there, gearbox is fucked! said he can get 1 2nd hand from a scrappies the mora for bout 80 - 100 that bout right, 1.2 8v
