The only thing I did'nt do by the book for mine was tax.

When I bought the car it was in Rachels name, so once I had got it back from the bodyshop and I passed my test I sent the form back to DVLA to get it changed to mine name along with the engine change details, I still had the little green slip that you keep from the V5 to get car tax. As it still said 998cc they were so stupid they did'nt notice on the insurance certficate that it had 1589cc

Hardly.

Log book has 1.6 16v, insurance has 1.6 16v, whos gonna go to the bother of checking what tax bracket it was taxed on?

The only way they can tell on my tax disc is by the price I paid for it.

ahh sorry mr o, i thought you ment it was a 998 on the log book, i thought i'd read it wasn't in a previous thread though.

even though technically it is tax incorrectly, as you say i doubt it will be checked

i sent my V5 off with the changed engine size, then just paid the extra tax at the next renewal about 2 months later. Dont know if anything would have happened if anyone checked in the meantime, but i wasnt that worried!
