suzuki gsx-r 600

been looking at these for a while now. definately going to be getting one of these because they're affordable and insurance is cheaper than other bikes i been looking at.

question is, which one do i go for?

been looking at '99 and later, what is K1, K2, K3 i know they're facelift but what other info should i be looking at? and SRAD, whats that?

gimme some decent sites and opinions please.

I have a '99 gixxer SRAD...they are certainly quick, and they are well renowned for their handleing, excellent for a beginner. I have ridden a k3 gixxer, these have fuel injection rather than carbs like the SRAD, they are a completely different ride, much lower, and slightly quicker. The good thing about SRAD's is that there are plenty of parts avaliable, on ebay etc...so when the inevitable happens, its not too expensive!

The test cost me £300 inc CBT. It was CBT on the monday, nothing on tuesday, learning wednesday and thursday, and taking the test on friday. If you are under 21, you have to have any bike above 33bhp restricted to 33bhp, when you are 21 or been riding for 2 years, which ever comes first, you are allowed to ride unrestricted on any bike( needless to say, most take restriction kit out straight away!). If you are over 21, you can do whats called direct acces, where you take a test on usually a 500cc bike, and when you pass, you are allowed straight onto a bike of any size. However, before you can do any of this, you need to take you bike theory test, done at the same place as car theory test. So is about £315 in total...then £650 + for the gear, and whatever the cost of the bike.....take it from me, its a very expensive hobby!

I am insured with MCE bike insurance....u are legally meant to have it restricted....but you can not visibly check for it, so police etc. not a problem....even tho i got mine restricted to get the certificate, my insurance company did not ask to see it, nor my friends who is insured through the same company.
