Official CS Stats () for the 280bhp standard Rex

Mazda RX-7 RZ 1 - SQM - 13.5

So a 350bhp one SHOULDn't get lashed, unless its not 350hp

Yes its the red one that was in roth last Friday, its my mates.

Of course its going to out perform me on the 1/4 mile, my best is also a 13.5, but the corsa NEVER launches well as I've no LSD and crappy road tyres on.

Otherhand, for a RWD car (mates has 255 tyres on, dunno whats standard?) it launches like a dream (certainly comapard to RWD cossies anyway!).

Using 1/4 mile times to comapre cars, esp ones with different driving wheels is a fairly weak comparison IMO. I prefer to see how cars go on the road!

yeah it aint the best comaprison I know, FWD with too much power and a well balanced RWD car

BUT, surely if a standard rex can pull 13.5, one with 70bhp more is going to be quicker still... just dont think you can "lash" a 350bhp rex!!

sitting with one, or slowly pulling away (3rd gear or summit) aint lashing one IMO

If you squatted down and fcuked off pronto, then fair play dude, but that rex aint running 350...!

your guess is as good as mine on that one, but I know Damio put his corsa on a public weigh-bridge with a 20XE in and it weighed over a ton

c20let...

Power unsure of for sure, but I've out dragged a lot of big power cars. Did a 380bhp cossie (as it was running then, should be 400bhp/430lb now) down a duel carrageway.

Guestimate on spec/how its performed on road/1/4 mile terminal speed is 325bhp. Could be anything more or less though. Next up is Cossie Management I think. Opens a lot more tuning doors for me!

horses for courses i think, no race has the same circumstances unless the cars are set up the same and same routes, littlest of things can play a massive part in belting a motor round a race route.

It'd piss the 12's with a diff and drag tyres. The guys who run 13.1's in that standard looking one spent ages talking to me. Reckoned that the diff knowck 0.5 off there 0-60, so that equates to more on the 1/4. Plus the drag tyres they ran, I'm thinking 12.7ish?

My box has to come apart soon (syncro is fooked on 2nd), so I could put a plated diff (60%) on then? I've not made my mind up yet, 1/4 miling my car does seem to risk breaking the transmission.

Decisions!

yeah i was at the start line ready and waiting for an absolute pasting, i was quite shocked and tbh when the kid got out that shock went, he was only a young lad to say he was driving a beast of a rex, and he didnt know that much about driving techniques when i was having a little chat with him.

I could use it if I wanted, but I've two cars, so I use the other for work. Just saves on petrol, and the more miles I do in it, the more chance of something breaking!

Full road going spec (and weight!), just a set of wheels (16's) and a subtle front bumper.

Quaife LSD are good for extreme power surges, however, LSD's are more suited to rally driving, loose gravel, stones and dirt are 1 of the 2 drive wheels will lift off the ground at certain points and the power needs to be transferred to the grounded wheel.

Think I'm deciding not to go with a diff. Fook it, ill just end up destroying the car trying to make it 1/4 mile well, when thats not its strong point....

Instead I'm thinking sell ECU, loom, injectors, turbo, manifold and downpipe. Replace with Cossie L8 ECU, set of greens, GT28 rollerbearing turbo, new manifold and downpipe! Should fly at least 350bhp with that? And with what I can sell off car should not cost me very much or anything at all....

yep i think the spec you want would roughly match the EDS phase 4 or thereabouts, but with all the talk of a 4x4 c20let corsa, i'm getting very tempted to bring my dad out of retirement .....
