Got my copy of Autocar this morning, and came across this article by Steve Cropley about Speed Camera vans in Australia...
"...Seems a group of four fed up drivers from Canberra spotted one of the much-hated vans parked beside a busy road. While those inside concentrated on trapping passing motorists, they sneaked up to the front of the van, removed the numberplate and attached it to a van of their own. They then drove past the camera position at elevated speed, not just once, but a rather emphatic 17 times. Australia's automated speed fines system is extremely well-oiled: within a day or so it had issued 17 separate speeding tickets citing the "safety" van itself."
