Just been readin Auto Express, and came across this in the best second hand diesels u can buy, and the worst....
'One to avoid: Vauxhall Corsa 1.5TD - Not to be confused with the adequate and lively 1.7 litre units, the 1.5 Corsa is very poor. The engine was antiquated when the car first came out, performance is sluggish and it sheds cambelts if poorly maintained'

that's fucking bullshit! the 1.5TD is the best engine ever! just check out one portuguese 1.5TD with 240HP 
in the uk were there corsas 1.7TD?

these car magazines need to print material, with nothing to criticize they are out of a job, that's why all the max poo,redline etc magazines aren't worth the read, same goes with even the most sophisticated mags

i know the combo vans over here are all 1.7 anyways dunno if they done them in the normal car though

yes here in portugal we also have the corsa 1.7D and combo 1.7D, just not the 1.7TD. the turbo diesel engine in corsa it's only the 1.5...

the 1.7TDs are in astras and cavaliers
arent the corsa Cs 1.7TDs tho (but a different engine type)
i think the 1.5 TD is good anyway, never ad a problem with it and i used to do 30 miles a day for just over a year. modified it to 87bhp for very little cost. just a shame the actual car was shit

in its time it was the most powerful diesel in its class, engine are bullet proof, mine has done 147k and its never gone wrong on me yet.
very easy to tune, can get well over 100 bhp with not spending a great deal of money.
oh the 1.5 td and the 1.7 td are the same engine, just has different bore and stroke, sounds like auto express know fuck all.
