where was this?
If there are 'resident only' signs up, and u didnt display a suitable permit (which ur mate could have given ya), then there is nowt u can do. Unless u r a tradesperson, and can prove u were working there...... :S

i had the same, mates dad bought the house for him live at while at uni, the idea was that he would fill the other rooms and therefore it would pay for itself and sell it when he finished uni.
he couldn't fill all the rooms so i used kip over at times.
got a ticket for resident only parking so i went to the parking ticket place and claimed i had moved in but had only been there for my first night and not enough time to get a permit.
they asked for rent books and stuff and i just said i hadn't sorted it. they gave me a form to apply ofr the parking permit and said it would help my case if i applied for one. never did and got cleared of the fine

I had few of these. Just write a letter saying you were visiting relative and that you had a permit but it had fallen on floor!!
Worked 5 times for me

my mate's house is the same down colindale. his parents always park in their drive, so i just ask them for the permit while i park on the road.

It's a pain in the ass but you just have to pay it at the end of the day.

easiest way is to say your car was broken down, the immobilisor got fucked flat battery engine probs flat tyre anything that would mean the car shouldnt be moved until sorted
