ive been offered a 106 gti from a bloke at one of the bodyshops i know,now the only thing is it was a customers who wanted a new shell put on it and a full respray.the bodyshop done the work 2and a half years ago and the bloke has dissapeared,not contacted them or payed anything.he now wants space in the bodyshop so said i can have it for a grand! i want it as a project car but how legal is it to sell me the car?

im sure i heard it was the bodyshops property if no payments had been made after 3months. can anyone tell me if its true?

the car does belong to the bodyshop after a certain period of time, cant remember the period but sure its alot less than 2 1/2 years. So imo if u can get the doc's etc to register the car as ures then u cud legally buy it

when i worked as a mechanic the car legally belonged to the garage after 6 months if payment wasn't received

right, i got given a honda vision from a landloard of a pub as it was taking up room and it belonged to a member of the bar staff which left over a year ago. i sent away for a log book and it came back in my name! so you could always try that. this was 5 years ago tho!
