Hi, i currently own a mk4 astra 1.8 16v sport (s-reg) But am thinking of changing it soon,

Ive had enough of modified cars (although my astra sport only has few wee modds)
I want something that looks good to start with, (no higher than about insurance grp 10)
And i dont really want to spend more than 4.5k

What you think?

was thinking of a pug 306 td/ hdi, but the complicated engine puts me off a wee bit (the engine bay is hoses and wires everywhere!! And if any thing goes wrong id imagine it would be a nightmare)

Also thinking of getting another corsa b, but i dunno...... cos ive been there , done that (and they look pretty bad when completely std)

Any suggestions? cos i really cant decide

Says the 106 owner.

The 306 DT engines aren't that complicated, not a lot to go wrong compared to the HDi.

306HDi around 3.5-4k.

Use the rest on intercooler and ECU remap, possibly tuning box. Have that upto 130-140ish bhp, and well over 200lb/trq, 50mpg and better handling that any Astra.

Engines aint too complicated, especially not the early DT like mine, as i've got no ABS, A/C or owt. But even on a high spec model, it shouldnt matter as the HDis are fine, efficient and reliable motors.

hyundai coupe F2 - lovely motors and come with full leather, stereo, theyre nice to drive and the F2 came with a few refinements like 35mm drop as standard - slightly improved aesthetics ( front bumepr deepened for more ir intake; rear bumper, exhaust and spoielr all changed too)

theyre a nice motor and u can pick them up for the £4500 region or less now

thanks everyone, replys appreciated!

So u think the 306 would be a good buy then? Its just ive heard soooo many horror storys about things continously going wrong (my mate has had 2 dturbo's and a gti6 and the suspension bushes have worn out soo fast on each one, he's replaced every bush at least once) And i no another guy who had 2 get a new radiator for his hdi and it cost £600!!!!!!

just dont wanna sell the astra to buy a car thats gonna give me grief.

The 206 gti is a mint looking car, just insurance would be crazy.
