When i had the astra, the ECU light came on a couple of times, and the car was noticably slower. Turned out it was just the knock sensor, which was fixed. It is now doing it again (im assuming its this, but i dont have the ECU light in the corsa), going to my mates garage tomorrow to get the diagnostivs run, but i was just wondering what sort of power the engine kicks out when its in its "safety mode" thing. Still pulls, but feels very sluggish!

managed to keep up with a CRX del sol with my engine in "safe mode" thing. Its the knock sensor and a sensor in the dizzy that have gone, getting it fixed on the weekend hopefully!

not sure on the output in safe mode, but it restricts it to 4.5k revs i think, maybe changes the timing a little to prevent damage.

at a guess, i would say the ECU would bring power down by half, so about 75-80bhp.

I don't know about power but what the ECU does is cuts torque by 50% when it detects an engine management fault.

I'm pretty sure that's definate. Someone at Vaux told me when my air-mass meter was playing up.
