kris my comment sounds a tad harsh but i couldn't think of any other way to say it from a keyboard. what i mean is, some items have low reserves or none at all, bidders bid a cheapish price,arrange an out of ebay settlement and then someone posts a link to the item and the buyers flood in and ruin the bargain for whoever was previous winning bidder.
its not a wrong thing to do, but can be quite gutting if your on the receiving end of someone splashing the item allover forums

like when I was bidding for an item once, its was only £8 and a bargain, someone then posted a link to it on a forum & i had to bid seconds from the end of the auction to get it & by then it cost me £28

i was bidding on a cally turbo, the seller set the reserve very cheap as it was damaged(rear quarter panel was dented) i was highest bidder at 900quid, then someone posted a link to it, next time i looked the winning bid was 2100quid

Look at it this way - you're laughing if you're a seller.
I think eBay has too many buyers in a lot of categories, many of whom don't have a clue what things are worth!
I wouldn't mind these magic LETs that are cheap enough to buy two of
