just went to garage he said around 3hrs labour £75ish
and at a guess £65 for clutch, is this about right?

sounds very cheap

well in comparison to over here .

i read in the paper and add for a local clutch and brake place and they used a fiesta as an example and they were looking for 375 euros

what engine is it for. and do you know if youve got the standard flywheel or the pot flywheel

its a 1.4 16v engine

well the x14xe engines are supposed to have a standard flywheel which means the clutch can be changed quite easily by just removing the first motion shaft outta the gearbox. this should take less than an hour to do

however, just because the x14xe should have a standard flywheel doesnt mean it will have one. mine had a standard flywheel but the box was unable to have the motion shaft taken out so the whole fecking box had to come out

just make sure the garage knows exactly what they are taking on before you take it to them (ie get them to check what type of box you got) or you may end up with a much bigger bill than originally thought

and the book time on the easy type clutch is something stupid like 20 mins and the difficult fucker has a book time of around 6 hours (i think)

new clutch on my C14SE cost about £160 including fitting, and about the same on C20XE if thats any help
