Last year me my mate and our lasses went to a caravan site in the lakes, it was on a huge overflow field right onthe lake, it was £6 a night for a tent and was a pub just down the road (pooley bridge) and was just off the main roads, not a bad idea.

A very good route would be meet at Kendal/A685 over to Brough/B6276 to Middleton/B6277 to Alston (great road this - 23 miles across high Pennines, not a single house en route)/A686 over Hartside to Penrith (1,900ft; loads of hairpin bends)/ A6 back to Kendal (very very fast road)
this was my secondary route

I'm well up for this, although I do have a few thoughts about the logistics of it...
I'm guessing we'll all kind of be driving in convoy really? Hence those knowing the route will need to stay in front for the best part?
Either way, finer details aside it sounds like a winner to me

No, everyone gets a map of the route and travels in their own time. Big convoys are a problem. I'd recommend that we enforce a 5 car limit to groups of people traveling together.

Yes I agree - better to space things out a bit to draw as little attention to ourselves as possible

Fannys
Yeah i'd agree space out a bit and everyone try and learn the route before the day, also employ the services of a co-driver
Looking forward to this now.....
BTW Andy, how long is that route?

My fear is that you actually are rather good at maths and this has implications for this statement
