Quite a few people have done DIY engine conversions on here.
How did you learn to do it?
Looking for something to pass a few weeks in the summer!

How do you learn to do stuff? I mean, why don't you just just jump in and do it , thats what I'm doing when I do mine...

Anyone actually got a decent answer?
I suspect that just 'jumping in' is not the solution. You need to know roughly what you're doing.

The haynes pretty much covers it, for the first few stages. The rest is unclipping and unbolting everything.

depends what engine you want to fit and into what shell really.
for example if I wanted to fit a 2.0ltr 16v lump to a corsa I might go searching for info on a website called... say... corsasport.co.uk

i thik u learn throught trying little things on your own but also u have to have a compettant knowledge on how an engine works.
i have a good idea but not really been too practical as of yet.
i mean lee mitchell jst started off doin his own sounds in his car and look at him now? highly regarded and well known for his work

You think? There isn't really a guide anywhere to putting in a new engine, M-Tec supply them with thier fitting kits, but thats about it... Seriously read the Haynes manual to engine removal and give it a go...
