Loverly car, i wouldn't buy an M3 cos its alot more money than a 3.30 for not alot of extra speed. I really want a 3 series convertible (even if its a 3.18)

I like the coupes but im not that keen on the convertables. The straight sixs are nice though.

Im sorry but thats crap, the 330 may be cheaper but performance IS comprimised.
0 - 60 of an E46 M3 is around 5.5seconds
an E46 330ci sport will take about 7 seconds
in gear times are loads different too!

330 ci is mid 6's to 60mph iirc.
The performance is alot different in real terms.
I'd have either tho

Personally I dont, if your spending out 10's of thousands of pounds on a top of the range BMW you buy an M3
If you want it just for looks then you get a 318
the 330ci just has no place IMO

EVO mag officially timed in real life conditions. 330i (heavier saloon) 0-60 in 5.9. Not bad IMO.

really! flippin ell, thats a whole second off the book time and 0.4 behind an M3
cover-up to stop the M3 looking slow maybe?

I suspect the M3 is also quicker than the book time.
I read an explanation of this on a Porsche board a while back. Apparently Porsche book figures are WAY out, especially for the 991 Turbo and GT3.

Alot of 0-60 figures are timed with a full load, ie half tank of fuel, passengers, luggage etc.
I know this is how VW get their figures.

yeah I know factory figures are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but a whole second on such a performance car seems very extreme to me.

A friend had his E36 Evo GPS timed and nearly all the acceleration figures matched what the book said. was just braking distances that were inaccurate
