To be honest, i very much doubt u were racing a 150 GT tdi golf. This would have pulled away from u with ease, especially if your having engine trouble.

Probably likely to have been a 130ps 5speed model, which would have been fair cop.

Your doing well to keep up with any of these engines over 40mph coz of the sheer torque they have.

Well i have driven the Mk5 golf GT TDi, and Iv gotta say it does feel quiker than its stats suggest. Its just all that torque, made me realise how foolish ever1 is for just lookin at power figs.
Drove a new Ibiza 130 TDi as well. That is seriously quick in the midrange. From 30-50 it felt every bit as quick as our Zaf GSi.

0-60 means very little on everyday roads.

I drive a golf GT TDI, dont have any problems with corsa's, the GSI is close but the sport has no chance.

courty, the Sport isnt really that much slower than the GSi on the road. Yes it is faster 0-60, but in gear times from 30-80, there isnt much in it really, and they both need to be driven in a specific manner. Ragging them doesnt reap any benefits, and gentle fluid gear changes and changing at around 5.5k is much more beneficial than screaming to the redline.

wish mine would rev upto 5.5k.
I find mine is quick from 60-90+ they are very heavy cars which dont help them off the line.

Mine standard is the GT TDI 110bhp, I have changed the airflow meter for a merc one that allows you to rev to 5k without it droping at the top. I have just ordered a Tuning kit that should push it upto 135-140bhp and 280-300 torque.
will be putting it on the rollers soon so should know what im getting. I use mine for work everyday as a company car and would recommend anyone who is going to buy a deisel to get a golf they are quick but your still gonna be getting 45mpg +
