what are the best drivin schools around?! The AA seem cheap at £19 an hour! gotta buy in bulk tho - 12 hours!! Any better schools out there?!

I know quite alot about this subject my dad being a driving instructor.
Driving instructors take 3 tests before being fully qualified, but are allowed to teach for 6 months after they've done 2 tests, but are trainee's with a red triangle badge in their windscreen. Full qualified instructors have a green hexagon.
Lots of big driving schools charge you £22 per lesson (BSM, AA, etc) and quite often give you a trainee instructor.
Another thing is.. if they don't pass their last test after 6 months they aren't alloed to teach any more, so you could end up having to change instructors

r u sayin that it would be better to go with a smaller firm or go with the bigger ones as long as you dont mind a trainee instructor!?

I'm saying, if you go for a bigger firm make sure you clarify that the instructor who teaches you is fully qualified and has a GREEN HEXAGON

Ok thanks for the help!! fancy goin with the AA cos £19 seems cheap for such a large company and also all learner cars a ford focus's

my view is try and get some experience ie a crashcourse of say ur parents.. then go with the AA or sum1
smaller companies do it more 4 the £ and can work when they want to .. tho mite be say £3 cheaper
if ur a student its cheaper with bigger companies

aa are gd i amwith them theyget a new focus every 6 month so u never have drive an oldish car

Instructors teach you how to pass a test rather than to drive imo. I just got insured on my dads car when i was learning! He didnt moan if you went over a tonne!

my old mans a driving instructor; he charges £20 and is always fully booked. But it does help that he teaches in a new BMW mini

I think the AA only use fully qualified instructors, at least they claimed that when I was learning to drive (4 years ago now). I used AA and it was OK, quite expensive though.
The best way is to get a personal recommendation from someone in your area - e.g. if they had a good instructor?
