My old system won't run WinXP so i put 98 on. Runs really well too . It kept bringing up a blue screen

hmmmmmmmmmmm

i got a 5-6 yar old pc.... and installed xp onto it (as running 95 then 98 before) and that works fine!

ah the horrid blue screen you get with xp.
did you figuir out why it wouldnt actually run it?

mate you have to make the system type NTFS not FAT32

I think it doesn't like the hardware, it's deffo fast enough! It installs and boots twice and then the blue screen everytime I've tried FAT32 and NTFS. I've even fdisked the MBR.

strange!

it is usually hardware related...happened to mine when i built my new computer up.... it was the Sata hard drive it couldnt pick up... therefore blue screen..
fixed now though

Says something about the Master Boot Record. I'm not gonna buy a new HD as it's only an old system i put togeter with the bits i took out of old comps. If someone wanted to buy it then i'd let it go
