My brother in law bought a MK2 GTI 2/3 years ago off his cousin who was immigrating to Australia and planned to insure it and have it as a second car. Then he got a new job with more money + comp car and also bought a new celica so he never bothered getting it on the road. Its been sitting at his dads place all this time doing nothing. It has 85k on the clock, it has been serviced and it's turned over twice a week. Only thing is it needs a respray but apart from that its mechanically sound and its completly original.

Not bad for £50

I now have 2 cars I cant afford to insure and therefore cant drive

Ehhhh Red, (more like pink probably).

How much would you be talking for a full respray?

Depends who you want to respray it... I've seen adverts for re-sprays for £200! Realisticly, in a plain colour, you'd be looking at around £600 - £1000, I think.
