I've just been told about this... has anyone else heard about it?
The government are considering a new tax to charge motorists for using the fast lane on Motorways.
Certain stretches of Motorway will be taxed and drivers will be tracked by camera or satellite when they use the overtaking lane. Drivers will be automatically charged £5 each time. This is designed to cut congestion and be more economically friendly.
This follows the success of the £5-per-day congestion charge on Central London.
They're looking to start congestion charges all over the UK as soon as possible. And in the near future possibly charge a tax for each mile driven by a motorist, something like 16p per mile!

Anyone else heard about this? I think someone is trying to wind me up
But I also wouldn't put it past out government either

Before they start charging more they want to put the money gained from car tax into fixing the roads.

There are far too many potholes about.

If this has come from the government, all there doing is trying to take ur attention away from that hutton enquiry thing. I doubt this will go anywhere, like that think david blunket tried last week, was it charging motorists an extra £5 when they get caught speeding for some victims of crime bollocks
