well back to the questoin-

i belive the law to be you should have a spare tyre and the police can do you for not having a legal spare, however it does not play any part of the MOT.

www.motuk.co.uk (for the MOT laws)

i went into work after having them fitted and all the guys were taking the piss cause i didn't fit them myself. Garage only charged £25 to supply and fit which i thought weren't bad, but yeah you can pick them up for about £12-£15 even down here!

and why does everyone seem to know someone who works or owns a garage! it's not fair, I'm so poor and have to pay full whack for everything lol

This inspection applies toTyres fitted to the road wheels only. The vehicle presenter should be informed when it is noticed that there is a defective tyre on a spare wheel.

Taken from MOT testers manual.

The fact of the matter is that an MOT tester (current rules) does not have to check the spare wheel unless it is situated on the outside of the vehicle (jeep .etc) even if they have a look nothing can be done about having no spare or an illegal amount of tread - its simply not part of an MOT. lol dont even argue coz its right! Its wot my examiners told me and i dont think they are gonna teach you the wrong thing, do u?
