erm yes...and?

i was actually talkin bout what boost pressures that TDs can put out, in comparison to petrols, not whether they NEED a d/v, coz we've established that

Waste of time - erm, did take me ANY time to fit.

Waste of money - in your opinion maybe? i love it, didnt cost me much, excellent quality + looks the bollox

Waste of boost - As i've already said, my boost escapes quickly anyway, even with DV off. No difference in 0-60/0-100, so difference at all really

possibility it protects turbo suits me.

The lovely whoosh, or Pahtisssch i get on gear changes makes me smile, so each to their own really

don;t matter about diesel or petrol it depends on the turbo and the CC of the car

Your so wrong. I've not had any1 "laugh" at me, and i very much doubt they would.

Just as an example. The proper hardcore jap modifiers (scooby wrx, skyline GTR, GTi-R boys) who live up by me, are pretty intrested bout it all. They all know its a Derv, but were intrested in how its all installed + works, and they didnt expect it to be so loud etc.

It wasnt intended to provide me with ANY performance gain, and i knew that before buying it. However, atmos d/v's dont provide petrol cars with performance gains, but i dont see people in the street laughing at scoobys blastin past, dumpin boost as they go.

I'd get alot more laughs if i went up and saw my mates driving a punto, which altho are fast (GTs), (just like valver novas), at the end of the day, its a punto.

the only negative comments i get are off you really , and other people who just jump on your band wagon on this site, without really reading the thread. But i'm not fussed, and dont care.

This thread in particulr has been pretty intresting, even if it did take conflicting answers from people who are "in the know" for me to find out info.

I know how my car drives with the DV both on, and off, and people who tell me otherwise are just stupid, and obviously know more than me bout my own car which i drive 60 miles every day in

As mentioned before, with most aspects bout modifying, its each to their own. eg: Daimo's bonnet, flamer kits, Jap spoiler etc.

i know - never said it was - but in this post, and the post entitled "dvs on tds", people have tried telling me "waste of money, doesnt increase performance on a diesel".

But according to Kris + Adam, ALL petrol turbo engines have a DV as standard, so could some enlightem me as to why peopl spend £150+ on fitting one that makes a 'whoosh' noise, and dumps all the stored boost (Thus slowing the car down) quicker.

Fuelling and boost reset/adjusted by a derv specialist. Runs 1.1bar boost. Torque also up to 174lb/torque from 144lb/torque.

Results from stage 1 tune vary massively between engines, seen one get 121bhp on rollers, but had viper kit as well. Where as others (usually older ones), only had 114-115bhp (all on same rollers).

I've also fitted a little cheapo raid induction kit. Doubt its increased power on the rollers, but it does seem to rev a lot free-er and drive bit smoother.

Matt

closed induction kits restrict boost

nope - it didnt vibs made a lovely noise (for TD) as well.

He did have the end of the pipe pulled out towards the fan (summat the rest of us cudnt do)

sorry matty but i agree with vibs here, mate had one on his focus rs and took it off cos it made it slower, funnily enough the same happened with his clio cup. but then my bro had a drilled airbox on his td, and changing this to an open filter incresed boost by 0.2 bar.

corsa td runs 0.67 bar standard.

adam, yes his car has always been a td. the bottom of the inlet is not the same as a diesel, for a start they done have anywhere to connect turbo hoses too, it also has a td fuel pump, plus its a gls model with never came in n/a diesel.

Thats fine - it would make sense, but i'm not talking bout petrol engines. In fact, specifically i'm talking bout a guy off PGAC who got 3bhp on the same rollers as me, with the same tune up.

Its possible he may have just had a stronger engine, but everyone else with a stage 1 tune just got <118bhp :s
