Hi Peeps

Got problems here i want to hook up ,my hifi which is a dolby to my ps2 the only problem is i got a optical cable output on the hifi and a optical output on the ps2 i heard u can still hook them up can any 1 shed light on this coz i dont know where to go from here, want to play me medal of honor games in surround

The optical output needs to go to an optical input of a dolby digital decoder.

Ur hifi is probably dolby noise reduction on the cassette player

but i heard there is a way off connectin them my hifi is compatable coz i got it connected to me dvd surround sound all round 5.1 just want it connected to me ps2

The output on your Hi-Fi is for recording to Minidisc. It can't be reversed into an input. Get a Dolby Digital Decoder. About £300

*You connected it and got Dolby Digital? You sure it wasn't just Pro-Logic or just stereo sound?

The reason why ur dvd is working is probably because your DVD player has a dolby digital decoder built in.

Only way of connecting ur PS2 up is via phono which wont give you surround.

na havent connected it like just heard there is a way off doing it so guys really u got to have a good hifi to connect it to right??

What you can do.

Connect PS2 to stereo using phono lead - decent sound.
Connect PS2 to DVD player assuming it has correct inputs for slightly better stereo sound.
Connect PS2 using optical digital lead directly to Dolby Digital Decoder for awesome sound.

needs to be into a optical input matey,
mine is done via 2 gold ixos phonos to the stereo, gives you dolby prologic - 2 front works togehtor and the rears work togethor! sounds good enuf for me!!

Dolby Digital doesn't feature on many - if any games - so there's no point, just go for Pro Logic, all games have that or at least stereo.
