Wanna get mine on the rollers in the new year, I'll be going for stanless system and de-cat + enclosed induction kit, Simota probably. Don't want it too noisy though so probably go for a magnex system as their supposed to be pretty quiet. Looking at your results I'll be well happy with 140bhp

BTW: How many miles have your engines done as they must be pretty healthy to put out that power, I know my GTI is a few years younger then yours so probably less miles, I'm on 37.5k at the min on a 1999 T reg.

ermmmm yeah

I didn have a K&N Induction kit on mine but the noise annoyed me, don't seem to have loast any power with the standard setup but my bro reckons he's gained some using the K&N on his VTS

K&N on the GTI / VTS engine is prolly the worst you can go... I want mine off asap, my engine has 64385miles on it

I'm saying they are a waste of time, when they say a 3 point increase it mean 0.3 increase. and if you can't push your ignition adavnce forward then why bother?? As that's all increase RON allows you to do, more boost or more advance and if you can't change it. where's the power gain??

All cars with knock sensors will benefit from an increase in octane rating.

yes, and all modern cars are using knock sensors these days, rather than the good ole fashioned RON plugs.

As far as I'm aware the knock sensor will casue the ecu to retard the ignition if it senses knock, the ecu cannot put it's advance forward of where it is designed to, so if the engine is designed for 95 then running 98 won't matter as it doens't have maps to push ignition forward that much. hence why dastek unichip/mappable ecu's give a gains.

ive tried piper x, k+n, std airbox, and closed filter on the clio and found the sealed i/k to be the best
