Only really of any bother to owners of supercars who have huge balls.

I'd understand if it was 100mph, but 150mph

not worth worrying about for us mere mortals.

What's the main reason for going there?

Watching very fast cars, going as fast as they possibly can, correct?

If restrictions are placed on these vehicles, then it's not really worth going there any more is it.

That wouldn't be infeasible.

Just inconvenient, time consuming and needlessly costly.

It would be cheaper, quicker and more pleasant to fly out, spectate and enjoy the local beer.

Lowest speed limit that applies to all is 200 kph (124 mph) on the way up to Flugplatz, where I hit just over 100 mph (GPS verified using Harry's laptimer) in my not mega quick car.

I can see that speed limit being fairly easy to exceed in a quicker car (M3 etc), and that's the problem now.

So because my current car won't do 150+ I shouldn't bother about it?
Mate and his dad are going in a couple months in his Lichfield gtr. Pretty sure he could clear the 125mph and the 150 mark

I just think it's daft is all. People go there to go quick, set good times and watch fast cars. Seems like there trying to stop people from doing just that.

If you mean my mate tim, he goes twice a year to the Nurburgring. Has done since he was about 14 with his dad. And goes on as many track days a year he can fit in. Knows how his car handles on track and is a pretty nifty driver aswel.

Obviously not as good as the CS elite feat Steve though...

Hold your horses. The speed limit isn't all over the track. It's in 3 small areas from what I have read.

I'm sure they will have plenty of fun maxing the gtr out in other parts of the track.

Also, they're quite entitled to enforce speed limits considering it's more of a toll road than a race track.

Yes I know the lines have been blurred, but in the eyes of the law it is a toll road of sorts.

Shame we don't have one over here. M6 toll is fun, but no twisties.

it is like a normal track. I've had far worse experience on a silverstone track day for example when race cars on the track. At lemans cars over taking on both sides on corners etc.

I reckon with the right person in my car those speed limits could be exceeded but with me driving, I'd be happy to come away from the Ring having hit 100mph at any point. The place looks utterly terrifying

Yes, those darn barriers at Silverstone only a few feet away from the edge of the track, no run offs at most corners and those pesky elevation changes etc

Thats not even mentioning the kerbs that are very high in parts and general lack of visibility

Kurbs are high at snetterton. I forget you have mass of track knowledge Steve with your endless laps of the ring and 15min sessions at coombe

But i'm aware the surface is poor the course is narrow in places, it's almost impossible to learn etc etc etc. The place has history. Jackie Stewart didn't dub it the green hell for nothing.

The fact remains that you requested dialogue regarding me breaching 155mph at any point on the course.

One of my cars will do 156.3mph in 5th gear before the rev limiter halts progress.

So, it's not beyond the bounds of reality.

However, as I said, it's a lot of money, effort and risk for not much return. I'd like to do it, but i'd rather fly out and enjoy the scenery, the racing, the booze and the food.

So this section has a 200km/h limit

This section has a 250km/h limit

I'm not exactly in a fast car when you think of what cars goes round the Ring, so lots of cars can easily exceed the limit. It's stupid and doesn't solve anything. Accidents rarely happen on these sections and 'limiting' people to 150 doesn't prevent them happening
