Last week, I picked up a set of GTI 180 vortex alloys. They were silver in colour, but werent in the best condition, and when I tried fitting them, 2 of the tyres were shot, so decided to get a full refurb and buy a full set of new tyres, and sell the other 2. I ended up going for:

Full re-furb in Shadow Chrome - £200
4 x Yokohama Parada 205/40 R17 Spec 2 Tyres - £200 supplied, balanced and fitted

The process started by taking the wheels down to my local tyre depot and having the old tryes removed. Then, having been recommended by a couple of people, I took the wheels to Lap-Tab new bodyshop in Manchester (under the name The Wheel Specialist). Derek did me a cracking deal as it was there first month of opening, so they were doing 25% off full-refurb. Then sourced the tyres from a seller on ebay, who offered free fitting in the local area. Picked both up today and the quality of the re-furb is second to none, and absolutely 100% flawless, couldnt recommend them enough, and they even do same day turn around if needed.

So heres the pics:

Before

During

After

Tyres

Cleaning

Fitted (please dont comment on 4x4 stance on car, lol, wheels had only just been fitted so suspension hadnt settled yet)

Opinions and comments welcome

Cheers

4 stud attatchment for the balancer. Pain in the arse, most places don't balance them because they don't have the right bit.

they can be balanced on the car which balances the whole hub, which is what i have done (same wheels)

or, some places have a tool which attaches to the normal machine to balance, and it uses the 4 stud holes
