I have fibre board in the 2nd bedroom and it doesn't make much difference tbh :(

Seen this stuff. Looks like the sort of thing i'm after. Quoted 24db noise reduction sounds good and also decent value at under £3 m2.

Fibreboards will be your best bet, cush'n'wood is pretty good as well.

We have floor boards in the bedroom which were noisey with carpet fitted when walking in the bedroom and hearing it down stairs

Fitted laminate in the bedroom and now the floor boards are silent

As long as you don't wear shoes on laminate it's very quite in terms of noise when walking on it

I think she may have the downs mate. Shes constantly dropping make up all the time. No good when the carpets white :(

You will be hard pushed to silence the laminate Ben, you can reduce it but that's about it. Best thing is simply not to wear shoes or slippers, as simple as it sounds

Bad idea surely. Shifts and laminate would be a big no no for me! Imagine the moaning from your missus when she's in bed and you are up then her clopping about annoying you. You would hear every time someone went in the room, even if you were trying to be quiet.

The next house to me have laminate upstairs and I can hear it in the next bloody house!

I'd be buying a nice thick carpet and a decent underlay for that.

Currently have carpet in the bedroom but i'm putting laminate down.

Problem is the bedroom is directly above my living room and with me on shift work, i'm up at silly times compared to the missus, so I always get moaned at because she can hear the tv :lol:

I can understand how annoying it is because i'm the same when i'm in bed during the day, so need a decent underlay with sound insulation.

I currently have laminate in the 2nd bedroom with fibreboard underlay and it doesn't appear to reduce sound at all, so want something better.

B&Q have a product made by silentwalk, but it's only 3mm thick compared to the 6mm fibreboard. Will that suffice or are there better products out there?

I don't mind paying that bit extra for a better quality product if needs be.

Any ideas?
