I paid for the land registry diagram. either my garden has stolen a bit from the neighbours at the rear of my next door has shortened theirs

going round some point at the weekend to ask them to trim it or remove it

If you hit a few copper nails in to a tree they say that it should die after a period of time, mate did try it on one and the thing is still alive 22 years later.

That`s what i would do also, cut the branches off that you need to get a good reception and more light and if someone moans then give them a bill/quote for the tree surgery.

Hack the fuck out of it and see who moans, that'll rat out the owner

it is blocking light, and causing interference with sky

im just going to cut it down

I'd pretty much say your stuck fast then tbh.

Unless said tree is interfering on your right to light or is overhanging your land in so much as you need to (and are entitled to) cut it back, the 'owner' isn't going to give a toss and nothing can make them, unfortunately.

the space isnt worth having.

ive got a shit land registry plan. its not exactly clear but it looks like its next doors. its an old woman who rents the house. so i'll tell her to tell her land lord.

the house behind is in the depth of the ghetto so they are probably unlikely to want to spend a few hundred removing a tree that is causing them no harm

How about going to your neighbour and sorting it by way of the following:

A: You chop it down and will then move your fence to his boundary once the tree is gone.
B: He does the above.
C: You get someone in to do it, split the cost and then share the extra space via both moving boundary fences the same distance in.

Cut tree down you will soon find who owns it

Not strictly true.
To claim ownership they need to have enjoyed without force, without secrecy, and without permission for a period of time.

The only waqy to find out who would be responsible for the tree would be by looking at the title plans and finding out who cut themselves short of a few feet of land in an attempt to alieviate themselves of responsibility for the tree.

If the council dont know about it, that could suggest its not falling under a TPO.

there is a tree inbetween gardens. both sides have fenced off before the tree so it is effectively in limbo

is there a way of finding out who actually owns it? they will both deny it is theres as it needs trimming down/taken away

I have contacted the local council they say they wouldnt know who owns it
