Gas hob, if you defo want / have to have electric I've read good things about the induction ones, apparently they are almost as responsive as gas, electric oven without a doubt. Can't imagine the brand is going to affect the build on something as simple as oven / hob, more the styling options?

For washing machines, I read you should sacrifice spin speed for kg capacity, apparently some manufacturers will sell the very similarly specced machines with different model numbers and a higher spin speed, when really there is no difference but the price gets bumped up. I suppose the heavier load it can take the more durable the insidey bits are, in theory! I've got Indesit built in washer dryer that came with the house, not had any problems with it (but have never used the dryer part).

I would recommend Dual Fuel myself. Electric hobs suck ass, so go for a gas hobs and electric oven.

Everything else in this place has broke in that time :( Just has someone out to fix the shower and waiting on Mattk to come and sort out a leak on the boiler when he's got chance.

Should think not after 3 years. Had my Hotpoint washer for 6 years and its still going strong!

I have Electrolux all built into the kitchen. 3 years old now and had no issues.

They are all same inside . Don't go paying through nose on branded . Some have better quality stainless steel but apart from that they are all very similar .

Difficult to give advice. Loads of people I know have paid decent money for a washing machine only for it to die after 2/3 years whilst others have cheap tat that goes on and on.

With not much else to go on I went to John Lewis figuring they wouldn't sell stuff they weren't confident in, and they bunged a two year warranty on the lot.

AEG tend to get good reviews

looked at bosch washers at the weekend as they are just in budget, i always see them being rented which i reckon is a good thing reliability wise.

Freestanding cooker, we quite like a new world one , old fashioned look about it

Hob and ovens etc i would stick to Neff, AEG or Miele.

We have an AEG induction hob and pyro Neff microwave and oven

do you like stuff being the same brand? we bought a samsung washing machine and fridge when we first moved it, had no problems with them.

what kind of cooker do you want? built in? we have a belling single oven and a delonghi gas hob (bought after the belling ceramic hob got smashed).

one thing i would say is buy a 6kg+ washing machine. our's is 5kg and it's a struggle fitting everything in.
