Most new houses have some sort of sealant round the bottom of all the skirtings, even when it is going to be covered by carpets, helps with the air test.

At the site I'm working (4 million £ houses) the gap is sealed with silicon.

Depending on the colour of the floor tiles you can use a coloured mastic and lay a neat bead down.

Would rather use silicone than caulk. They will both look a cunt after a while.

Very small and neat bead of dec caulk is the only way to hide the small gap/joint.

Must be some gap to be fussed about it? Never seen people fill them in, if you're worried about drafts or anything, stick a draft stip behind the panel.

Well its either that or leav the gap.

Will look awful! Can you not remove and refit skirting lower down?

Joint filler, caulk so can paint over it then.

Yeah that's no problem, the skirting boards are white anyway so I could just use some white sealant.

If the skirting is on top silicone would work, just be aware you can't paint over silicone.

I think it sits on top of the tiles but there is a gap about 5mm or so from what I remember (I'm going to be at the house in question tomorrow so can double-check then).

Does the skirting sit on top of the tiles or are the tiles fitted up to the skirting?

If you have a tiled floor (real tiles not the pretend vinyl ones) and there is a gap between the tiles and the skirting boards, is it OK to seal said gaps with some kind of silicone sealant? |
