Pics in that thread don't work Simon :(

I've got a rotten half drum bbq and a full oil drum to make a new one but haven't bothered getting around to it yet.

good job there. get some decking stain on it.

Just used rope lighting from TLC (http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/DT611W.html)

Just run it up under the edge and in some conduit and back into the house and plugged it in, can be put on a dimmer switch to.

Forgot that i didnt update this, only got phone pics, finished it easter weekend.

Cut to shape

Stone dragged back and facia boards on

Also cabled in speaker wires and terminals for outside beats! connected to the media centre and controlled from iPhone / iPad

and down lighting connected up, connected to a dimmer switch inside.

Made quite a difference on the garden, got a usable space now!

Yeah did it on my own, back was in peices the last few nights

The boards were cheap but then they were on offer, i will just have to see how long they last, least i have a decent frame in place so i can always replace them a few years down the line if they dont last

On your own? We did a mates garden a while back, looked good did it on 2 different levels in a L shape around the corner. Just make sure you you use decent quality timbers on top (the actual deck wood). We got some from one local suplier, and some from another as they didnt have all the same size what we wanted. One has been fine for the last 3 years, the other lot has warped loads and looks crap even though they were the same pattern and looked the same.

Good effort! Was worried at first, thought you were just laying it on top of your patio  Still think its a shame you gravelled the whole garden though!

 the grass we had before had poor filtration and was boggy, i like stones, no maintenance

Last weekend i went down to B&Q to get a few decking boards to build the missus some grow boxes, but while i was there i decided that as it was rather cheap £2.40 odd a board i would do decking in the garden so went home took some measurements and went back and made am impulse purchase

Purchased the timber and had that delivered in the week, timber is not so cheap at the mo :|

Anyway this is how the patio area looked on friday morning, i replaced the grass last year with stone but couldnt be assed to do anything with the patio at the time.

Came up with a rough design in my head, good thing is i have 2 solid points to anchor from (wall and conservatory base)

Bolted on some noggins to anchor too. (can see at the back of this image)

took up part of the patio, whacked some posts in, fitted the frame and joists.

Its going to be the same height as the double doors so we can walk straight out on to it, Ive set the sides at the same angle as the fence line.

and now ready for the deck boards to go down, im going to run some electrics in, looking at external speakers and down light the frame (bit like a floating wall)

Not bad for a weekends work as the weather was perfect
