I would advise against it as it will probably be a cavity wall, if you start cutting away and you leave any debris in the cavity it will bridge damp which will result in you wishing you had shot the cat instead.

I would put it through the wall. My parents have theirs through the wall and its fine. They made a hole through the wall, plastered/painted it and then screwed the flap on the outside.

Was waiting for the one person to say get rid of the cats lol My missus would fume if I ever suggested it.

Thinking the hole in the french doors is the way forward

I meant for future owners etc.

Just my personal opinion, wast saying that there is anything really bad with putting it in the wall, id just prefer not to have a shite looking patch up after its gone.

new build :o:lol:

true, but if it's a FTB house then they most likely won't be there 15 years, depending on how big it is of course.

cats live for 15+ years though usually so the likelyhood of it being removed is slim.

If the catflap is ever removed the wall will never look the same.

Glass is easily replaced

Wouldnt go though the wall.

A glass cutter will sort your hole in the glass then just install a catflap as usual.

Myself and other half just bought a new house, it's a new build with french doors leading to the garden.

We have 3 cats but no where to put a cat flap, we don't have the option of just letting them out and waiting for them to come to the door to come back as they are used to a cat flap.

Can you or does anyone know which is best, looking to get a glass panel replacement for the French Door with Cat Flap built in or going through the wall?

Anyone had a similar situation
