If its copper it will be fine, its very hard to get natural gas to explode anyway, needs to be between a 5 - 15% mix of gas to air | |

I'd box it in with fire resistant plasterboard, why does it need to be vented? Gas pipes arent vented when they are enclosed in walls, floors, ceilings etc... | |

Yeah I see what you mean. Instead of totally enclosing it, just cover the exposed angles. Although if im welding at floor lever then theres still an element of risk :o | |

You can only box in a gas pipe if you fit vents to the boxing. It has to be vented. | |

garage should be fire proofed to meet standards so shouldnt really be a problem unless you are planning to cut and weld the pipe itself | |

Can I not just box it in with timber batons & plaster board?? Or is it strictly not reccommended to do hot works in a timber frame construction house/garage?? | |
