quote: Yes but it is no guarantee it will allow you to contact them. The register extract will tell you the registered owner and the lender so ignore all the crap posted above. The reason I say it is no guarantee is that one of the properties I was hoping to get my mitts on (there were 2 adjacent minging properties, one for sale and one that wasn't!) contained all the details but the address information for the registered owner was the same as the address in question and as it was a derelict property. The proprietor register also showed it had bankruptcy orders against it, restricted covenants and other crap so the likelihood is that he would never sell it as he wouldn't see anything from it, he would be better to let it sit and rot or rent it out!

No one would pay a mortgage for over 2 years with it being empty would they?

Data protection should stop them handing it out I would have thought.

I know, even still empty or not it should be private information to the random joe, you'd expect neighbours and friends to know but not random strangers.

I wouldn't like to think someone was accessing details of mine and things about my house without my knowledge, I'd sooner have them knock on my door and ask.

The land registry will tell you the legal owner, but in many cases that might be the mortgagor (ie. a bank) rather than the mortgagee.

Some councils will have a planning portal on their website which will let you see various details on houses. Im not sure if it will list an owners address other than the actual address of the house though, worth a try.
