I know around me they kept hold of land, got permission that meant only council housing could be built on it then sold the land onto developers - in a number of different sites. | |

As far as I know, the council don't apply for permission on their own land simply to sell on. | |

If its big enough for a house I doubt the council will sell it, as its worth more for them to hold on until they decide to give it planning permission and sell it as building land. | |

well at the moment its a dead space. Once in two or so weeks the grass gets cut down. | |

Sometimes the council will sell it if its just a dead space, as means they dont have to spend to look after it. | |
